Terms & Conditions

About these terms

These terms cover your use of this website, any merchandise you buy from us, and any tattoo work or booking deposit you arrange with Halfway House at [ADDRESS]. By placing an order or paying a deposit you're agreeing to them. We may update them from time to time; the version on this page at the time of your order is the one that applies.

"We", "us" and "Halfway House" mean [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], ABN [ABN].

Orders and pricing

All prices are in Australian dollars and include GST. Placing an order is an offer to buy; a contract forms when we send your confirmation email. We may cancel and refund an order if an item is out of stock, if a price or description was listed in error, or if we suspect fraud.

We run small production runs. Sold-out items are often not reprinted, and we can't guarantee future availability of anything.

Product descriptions

Our garments are printed and finished by hand, so slight variation in print placement and colour between items is normal and isn't a fault. Screen colours vary between devices; we photograph everything as accurately as we can.

Tattoo bookings and deposits

A deposit paid through this site reserves studio time with a specific artist. It is deducted from the final cost of your work.

  • Deposits are non-refundable. They cover design time and the session we've held for you.
  • You may move your appointment once, free, with at least 48 hours notice. The deposit carries over.
  • Less than 48 hours notice, a second reschedule, or a no-show forfeits the deposit.
  • If we cancel or reschedule for any reason on our side, your deposit carries over or is refunded in full — your choice.
  • Deposits are valid for six months from payment and can't be transferred to another person.

Paying a deposit isn't a guarantee we'll do the work. If, at consult or on the day, your artist judges a design unsafe, unworkable at that size or placement, or otherwise something they won't put on skin, they'll say so and we'll discuss alternatives or refund the deposit.

Tattoo appointments

You must be 18 or over and bring government photo ID to every appointment. We can't tattoo you if you're intoxicated, under the influence of drugs, or have been drinking that day, and we won't refund a deposit in that situation.

You agree to tell us in advance about any medical condition, medication, allergy or skin condition that could affect the work or your healing, including pregnancy, breastfeeding, bleeding disorders, blood thinners, diabetes and heart conditions.

Final designs remain the artistic property of the artist. We may photograph completed work and use those images to promote the studio unless you ask us not to — just tell your artist.

Aftercare and touch-ups

How your tattoo heals depends heavily on how you look after it. We'll give you written aftercare instructions and we're always happy to answer questions afterwards.

We offer one free touch-up within [X] months where a healed tattoo needs it through no fault of your own. Touch-ups aren't free where the work was affected by picking, sun exposure, swimming, poor aftercare, or by tattooing over scarred or previously tattooed skin. Hands, feet, fingers and lips heal unpredictably and are always excluded.

Gift cards

Gift cards are valid for three years from purchase, can be used on merchandise or tattoo deposits, are not redeemable for cash and can't be replaced if lost.

Website content

All designs, photographs, logos and text on this site belong to Halfway House or our artists. You may not reproduce, print or use our designs, including tattoo designs shown in portfolios, without written permission. Taking someone else's tattoo design to another studio is both a copyright issue and bad manners.

Your account and conduct

If you create an account, keep your login details secure — you're responsible for activity under it. We may refuse service, cancel orders or ask someone to leave the studio in cases of abusive, discriminatory or unsafe behaviour toward our staff or other clients.

Liability

Tattooing carries inherent risks including pain, swelling, scarring, allergic reaction and infection, even when everything is done correctly. You accept those risks when you go ahead with work.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Where we are permitted to limit our liability, it's limited to resupplying the service or refunding what you paid.

Privacy

We collect only what we need to fulfil orders, run appointments and meet our health record-keeping obligations. See our Privacy Policy for detail on what we hold and how long we keep it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
